The Grand Four Seasons Station in Downtown Dallas

The Grand Four Seasons Station is an exciting new place for entertainment in the heart of Downtown Dallas. Whether you’re a movie buff or a foodie, you can find something to love here. Here, you’ll find everything from a theater featuring a rotating selection of new releases to a gourmet dining room that’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

IMAX

For many years, the IMAX screen at the grand Four Seasons Station Cinemas in Spokane, Washington, was the only IMAX theater in the country. It is now operated by Marcus Theatres. The IMAX screen has seen five million visitors.

IMAX has been called “the greatest movie experience on Earth”. Some people have claimed it is the only way to enjoy movies. Others have criticized the marketing strategies and the overall IMAX experience. Regardless of the opinion, IMAX films have been remastered for DVD and HDTV. Moreover, many have been released on Blu-ray Disc.

Several amusement parks have also built or integrated IMAX film segments into their rides. In the US, many have integrated IMAX into their Motion Simulator rides. At the same time, a number of amusement parks and waterparks have added IMAX content to their rides. Several of these are in the United States, while others are in Europe and Asia. During these amusement park attractions, the IMAX film segments are narrated by David Attenborough.

During the 1990s, IMAX also experimented with an HD format. This system, known as “IMAX HD”, was designed to produce a smoother motion while reducing blurring of moving objects. However, the higher production costs and wear and tear on the projectors caused it to fail. Eventually, the company adapted their system into a new 4K laser projection system. Although the process retained the traditional IMAX aspect ratio, it used two projectors instead of just one. These are now referred to as IMAX with Laser.

In 2007, Four Seasons Station Cinemas opened with 18 screens. The grand IMAX screen was renamed the IMAX Dome, but some theaters still call it the Omnimax. The four seasons station was reverted back to Southern Theatres after a couple of years. On November 17, 2014, Southern Theatres sold the Four Seasons Station to Movie Tavern. Since then, it has been renamed the GrandLuxe Stadium Cinemas.

Among the many IMAX films, some have been remastered for HDTV, and many have been released on Blu-ray discs. The Rolling Stones: Live at the Max, which was filmed during their 1990 Steel Wheels tour, was a concert film for the IMAX format.
